Official opening of city centre Hospice shop
St Leonard’s Hospice opened a brand new shop at 20 Colliergate on Friday 31st January 2020.
The shop is made up of three floors selling men’s and women’s clothes, books, furniture, haberdashery, and electronics. The upper two floors will be opening very soon and will include a men’s section and also a bridal, prom and occasion wear room, by appointment only.

The shop at 20 Colliergate was previously a branch of betting shop William Hill and, before that, an Azendi jewellery store.
The charity already has a popular store a short walk away on Fossgate – as well as branches in Acomb, Fulford, Easingwold, Haxby, Layerthorpe, Scarcroft Road, Sherburn, Pocklington, and Selby.
St Leonard’s Hospice marks its 35th anniversary this year as Helen Moreton, retail manager, explains: “This is our 15th premises and the Hospice’s 35 years of operation. The Hospice officially opened in 1985, and the first-ever charity shop opened on Friday 21st June 1991 in part of the old Regent Cinema in Acomb.
