About St Wilfrids Hospice – Eastbourne
About This Shop
St Wilfrid’s Hospice exists to support, empower and care for people at the end of life. We provide specialist care for people with any progressive and advanced disease. Our vision is of a community where people talk openly about dying, live well until the end of their life, and where nobody dies alone, afraid, or in pain.
The Retail Company directly supports the hospice vision. All profits made in the shops and through other retail income directly benefit the hospice. Each shop has a Sales Manager whose responsibility it is to increase sales and profitability and to improve St Wilfrid’s Hospice shops presence on the local high street. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting Sales Managers to achieve these goals.
We look to create positive and vibrant retail outlets with an excellent reputation in customer service and donor sensitivity. We are passionate about working towards our charitable objectives and improving community links.
The care and services we offer are delivered free, though it costs £11,000 a day to do this. While the NHS gives some funding, it does only amount to just under 25%, and the shops are one very important way we raise money.
We operate several shops in our catchment area including a dedicated furniture store. These shops sell donated items that have been generously given to us by the community for the community. This ranges from bric-a-brac, clothing, toys, CDs, book, DVDs, other household items, and a range of quality, pre-loved furniture items.
