About St Raphael's Hospice
About This Shop
St Raphael’s Hospice, in North Cheam, SW London is the local hospice for residents in the two London Boroughs of Sutton and Merton.
Patients who need palliative (end of life) care are referred to the hospice either by their own GP or via Hospital Consultant. The hospice offers a mixture of residential care, a daycare centre, home visits by experienced nurses, a “hospice at home” service plus a bereavement and family support service. The hospice is open on a “24-7” basis, 365 days a day, and is run by specialised medical and nursing staff, headed respectively by a Medical Director and a Matron. There are over 100 paid staff, who are supported by over 300 volunteers. Each year, the hospice cares for over 900 patients, and all the care given to patients and families is provided entirely free of charge.
St Raphael’s raises funds each year from donations, many of which are made “in memory” of former patients, legacy gifts, and fundraising. The hospices own Charity Shops, we also run our own weekly Lottery, and a range of fundraising events and appeals, as well as a large number of local community events with the support of ten local supporter groups.
The hospice depends on on-going local community support.
