About St Michaels Hospice – Hereford
About This Shop
St Michael’s Hospice celebrates 25 years of serving the community in 2009. The Hospice is a provider of specialist palliative care and a centre of excellence in education. In 2009, St Michael’s needs to raise £3.6 million to continue to provide this to the people of Herefordshire and surrounding counties.
We have retail shops, three of which are warehouses, based in Herefordshire and neighboring areas. In the financial year ending March 2007, the shops turned over £620,000; no mean feat when you consider that they sell almost entirely donated goods!
Unlike the majority of other charity shops, apart from three paid managers, St Michael’s shops are staffed entirely by an army of dedicated volunteers; over 325 who give their time and energy on a regular basis, for free.
Seasonal and events-related purchases are also available through the Hospice website: www.st-michaels-hospice.org.uk. St Michael’s Hospice is pleased to offer the ‘Gift Aid on Donated Goods’ scheme, allowing those who donate goods to provide the Hospice with earning an extra 28p per £1 on every item sold.
