About St Leonard's Hospice
About This Shop
St Leonard’s Hospice in York was founded in 1985. It is a registered charity caring for people with a life-limiting illness, their carers, and families.
Based in York, but serving a large area of Yorkshire, its skilled and specially trained medical and nursing staff provide in-patient care, a ‘Sunflower Centre’ which offers drop-in services and support, and a Hospic@Home service which provides Hospice care in patients’ own homes.
Central to its philosophy is placing patients at the centre of everything and consulting and involving them in decisions about their care. The care is free to patients, but not free to provide, and the Hospice relies on the goodwill of the local community to provide donations, raise funds, and leave legacies. The Hospice also has a chain of shops selling high-quality donated goods.
