St Barnabas Hospice Vision & Mission
Inspiring excellent care that helps people to live well and cope with dying. By changing the way people die, we change the way people live.
St Barnabas provides specialist palliative care so that everyone can access and receive the support they need to live well and ease the process of dying. We operate an 11-bed Inpatient Unit in Lincoln, a unique ‘Hospice within a Hospital’ unit in Grantham, Day Therapy Centres across the county, and a Hospice At Home team. We also provide welfare and bereavement counselling and support for patients and their carers, part of the ‘holistic’ approach to care. St Barnabas currently employs 280 staff and has 1,000 volunteers who help to provide support to patients and their families at all sites throughout the county. The Trust requires £4 million per year to provide the current services free of charge to local people.
St Barnabas Hospice Shops
We rely on the generosity of supporters who give us regular donations of items to sell, the time of volunteers to help run our shops, and the increasing customer base – all of whom have helped St Barnabas Hospice Shops contribute thousands of pounds since they started trading.
The shops also provide a focal point on the High Street for anyone wanting information on our services, our fundraising events, and activities, or how to help by volunteering or making a contribution.
Supporting our shops will:
· Raise money for patient care and improved services across Lincolnshire
· Give you access to great quality items that are excellent value for money
· Make a positive impact on the environment by reducing landfill and encouraging recycling
Volunteering
We have a great volunteer team of over 450 shop volunteers that keep our shops going by giving us their skills, experience, and most importantly, their time. We are always looking for more volunteers to help increase our profits.
Donate to our shops
We always need donations to keep our shops going. The better quality of the donation, the more money we can raise to help our patients. If donors sign up for the Gift Aid scheme, we can claim an extra 25% on sold items, so please sign up when you donate – it doesn’t cost you a penny! If we cannot sell your donations we benefit the environment as we keep a vast quantity of clothing, books, and metal from going into landfills by recycling them. This, in turn, generates cash for us, so don’t chuck out those old clothes – donate them to us!
