About This Shop
The Rainbow Centre is an inspiring regional charity based in Fareham, Hampshire. For the last 23 years; every day a little miracle occurs at our centre as a child will achieve something that he or she has never achieved before; this may be putting a spoon in her mouth or taking his first steps unaided.
At The Rainbow Centre, a team of Conductors trained at the Peto Institute, in Hungary work to transform the lives of children with cerebral palsy, and more recently the team began to work with adults that have MS or Parkinson’s or those who have suffered a stroke. The conductors facilitate a unique programme of Conductive Education, which encourages individuals to learn new ways of becoming active and happy – by improving mobility and enabling independence.
“Ask me not what I can do for the children with cerebral palsy but ask me what they can learn to do for themselves” (Dr. Andras Peto).
The Rainbow Centre currently has a waiting list of adults who would like to join their MS, Parkinson’s, and Stroke support sessions, and with the help of supporters are planning to continue their exceptional work with children, and extend their services for adults.
As part of the fundraising efforts to this, The Rainbow Centre has three charity shops. Each charity shop sells good quality second hand (and sometimes) new items:
• Ladies Clothing (especially evening wear!)
• Household goods and ornaments
• Bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses
• Books and CDs & DVDs
• Games and puzzles
• Children’s clothing & toys
• PAT tested electrical items
