About Parity for Disability
About This Shop
Parity for Disability is a local charity providing vital services, information and support for children and adults with multiple disabilities, their families and carers throughout Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.
The charity is dedicated to ensuring that profoundly disabled people have access to a quality of life that everyone has a right to expect, while family members receive some respite from giving constant and caring attention to their loved ones.
Parity runs two-day centres in Farnborough and Camberley, where trained staff work one-to-one, providing the level of support needed to continue learning and achieving, as well as enjoying social contact and building relationships through the day to day activities. A range of therapies, including speech and physio, help with communication, health, and well being.
Parity also runs teenagers’ activity schemes during the Easter and summer holidays when profoundly disabled teens might find themselves isolated at home. The charity’s music therapy services operate both on-site and in homes, schools, and other locations throughout the area.
Although Parity receives some funding from local authorities, the charity must raise £150,000 a year to survive. It achieves this through donations from trusts, companies, and the community, including the funds raised from its two charity shops.
