About Michael Sobell Hospice
About This Shop
Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood provides care, comfort, and support for local people facing life-limiting illnesses.
The Hospice is a special place, where patients and families can spend precious time together. Our professional team offers medical, nursing, and emotional care along with practical support for patients, their families, and carers. Our aim is that every patient should experience a journey towards the end of their life that is peaceful, comfortable, and free from worry and pain. We provide a 16 bedded In-Patient Unit which has a focus on improving quality of life for patients by providing relief from distressing symptoms. Patients may be admitted for symptom management, rehabilitation, carer support, or care in the last days of life. We also offer a Day Centre to support patients with palliative care needs, to enable them to maintain their independence in a safe, relaxed, and supported environment, and to provide help for their carers.
All services at the hospice are provided free of charge. Many services at the hospice would not exist without fundraising and voluntary donations for many aspects of patient care. Each year the charity must raise over £1.6million to maintain its current levels of care. The charity generates this amount through fundraising events, legacies, regular giving, donations, an e-bay site, and via its three charity shops local to the hospice in Northwood. The shops stock clothes, accessories, bric-a-brac, books, CD’s and DVD’s, toys, textiles, and small electrical items. We will collect unwanted donated goods in our van.
