About Jospice
About This Shop
St Joseph’s Hospice Association often known as Jospice is one of the oldest hospices in the country and the largest on Merseyside. Caring for terminally ill patients from all parts of Merseyside, the hospice is based in Thornton Woods, about eight miles outside the city, and has 29 beds. Opened in 1974 by a Mill Hill Missionary priest Father Francis O’Leary Jospice has cared for thousands of patients and their families since that time. We have recently undergone a major refurbishment programme to modernize and increase the number of beds that we have to care for patients.
The charity was started in 1962 however, when Father O’Leary opened the first hospice in the name of Jospice International in Rawalpindi Pakistan, and further clinics in Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, and Equator & Colombia. Jospice still financially supports some of the projects. 2012 is our Golden Jubilee year, and the need to care for local people and those in need in South America is still very much needed today as it was 50 years ago
