About This Shop
Home-Start is the leading charity providing family support for families with pre-school children across the UK.
More than 16,000 Home-Start volunteers visit families at home each week, supporting parents facing situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability, or who are just finding parenting a struggle. The role of early intervention carried out by Home-Start is crucial in helping families to function well and enabling children to get the best possible start in life.
At Home-Start Teesside the staff carries out the practical running of the scheme, taking on a wide range of tasks including administration, recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers. This enables the scheme to train volunteers to high standards for home visiting to ensure that the support we offer is tailored to the family’s needs. We work at the heart of the family, in the home, and we stay for as long as we are needed. Supporting parents as they grow in confidence, strengthening their relationships with their children, and widening their links with the local community. They are the heart of the scheme.
The scheme also operates four small, local charity shops which provide some funding to the organisation.
