About Greyhound Rescue Wales
About This Shop
Greyhounds and lurchers make wonderful, loving pets.
They are placid, loyal, funny, cuddly, quirky, and incredibly lazy. Tragically, they are often destroyed when they are no longer useful as racing or hunting dogs, whether they have become too old and slow or have sustained an injury, and it is the mission of Greyhound Rescue Wales (GRW) to rescue and rehome as many as possible. We mend those who are broken and provide loving care and rehabilitation to all of our hounds to ensure they can join their forever family as quickly as possible.
Adopting a hound from GRW not only gives you a wonderful new friend but also offers the opportunity to join a friendly, caring, dedicated community, which is happy to provide support and advice long after the adoption papers are signed.
Our charity shops are the lifeblood of the organisation, bringing in vital funds to enable us to continue our crucial work. We sell good quality clothes, shoes, jewellery, accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, small electrical items, and bric-a-brac. Our shop windows have received recognition for their stunning displays, and regularly attract compliments from visitors. These high standards continue into the well-organised, bright and fresh shop floors, and customers are always guaranteed a warm welcome from our friendly staff and volunteers.
They are also sometimes lucky enough to be greeted by some of our rehomed dogs when they drop in for a visit!
GRW is the longest established greyhound and lurcher rescue charity in Wales has grown and evolved from a small group of people rescuing greyhounds and lurchers in the Swansea area in 1993. The charity now comprises the Rehoming Centre in Carmarthenshire and five shops in south Wales, helping to rehome around 100 dogs a year.
If you would like to help sustain our vitally important rescue and rehoming work, you could volunteer in various ways, including helping out in the shops. To apply, please fill in the form on our website here. If you would like to donate goods please call in at one of our shops, and to see upcoming events, please see our events page.
