About Dorothy House Hospice
About This Shop
Every day Dorothy House Hospice care helps about 800 families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease and other life-threatening conditions.
It is the only charity providing free specialist nursing care at home for people with life-threatening illnesses in Bath, north and west Wiltshire, and northeast Somerset. Most of our patients are looked after in their own homes, but short-term care, outpatient, and day-patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley, near Bath.
To make sure patients have the best quality of life possible, pain and symptom relief, respite for carers, emotional and spiritual support and daycare are all provided free of charge. Patients are looked after from a wide geographical area – Bath, North and West Wiltshire, and parts of Somerset.
The vast majority of the Hospices income – 81% is spent directly on patient care. A further 10% goes on education, which indirectly benefits patients by training Dorothy House staff and other health care professionals.
The Hospice depends upon the generosity of local people to make donations, hold events, take part in sponsored challenges, support the charity shops, or leave a legacy.
