About National Hereditary Breast Cancer
About This Shop
The National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline was founded in 1996 by Wendy Watson. Wendy was the first woman in the UK to undergo a preventive double mastectomy due to her strong family history of breast cancer. Some 9 relatives with the disease.
There was such a clear need for more awareness of the hereditary factors the Helpline provided a source of information and support to thousands, yet many were still denied relevant referrals.
The decision was made to raise the profile on the High Street with Charity Shops with information centres within them. The results have been outstanding.
Wendy was nominated Tesco Mum of the Year 2011 and in 2013 awarded an MBE
