Fashion-savvy shoppers welcomed the opening of the North West’s first Salvation Army boutique charity shop with huge enthusiasm this week. Officially opened at 10.30am on Tuesday 15th March by The Salvation Army’s Major Alan Watters, fashionistas of Wilmslow were lining up to get their hands on some amazing designer item offers as the doors to the new boutique shop opened on Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire. A wide range of vintage items, designer names, and high-end fashion pieces, each hand-picked from the public’s generous donations, were available on the opening day. Particularly popular items included a Gucci handbag which can retail for up to £1,900, on sale for £80, Diesel watches (RRP £200) which sold for £125, Karen Millen and Coast dresses, Ted Baker and Crew shirts, Hobbs jackets, and Jenny Packham shoes and jewellery.
Nick Morton, Head of Retail Development at Salvation Army Trading Company, commented: “We’re delighted the launch was so popular. It’s clear that local shoppers have a real eye for fashion and an appetite for a great deal. “Given our fantastic central location in Wilmslow near to a range of other high quality shops, and our close proximity to Manchester, we’re anticipating a large amount of ongoing interest, particularly from shoppers attracted to the boutique’s stylish interior, high quality stock, and customer service. “Jayne Sargent, Visual Merchandiser at Salvation Army Trading Company commented: “T here has been such a buzz around the new boutique shop – we even had people calling up ahead of the opening to hold items they had seen in the window! “What people might not know is that the Wilmslow shop will offer a service where you can register your interest for a specific item or designer. We’ll then do our best to source them from our shops throughout the UK.”
Jayne added: “In addition to selling boutique items, we are also looking out for donations of pre-loved designer items as we know we’ll have no trouble finding a great home for them, which will in turn raise valuable funds for The Salvation Army.”
The Wilmslow boutique shop is only the third Salvation Army boutique to have opened in the UK. Launched in response to an increasing demand for high quality pre-loved items, The Salvation Army’s boutiques are proving particularly popular among shoppers. The Salvation Army’s two other boutique shops are based in Morpeth, Northumberland, and in Edinburgh.
