About This Shop
The income raised from Valley CIDS Lighthouse charity Shops supports the following activities:-
Our three Children’s Workers who visit over 70 local schools to provide much-needed support through school assemblies, Religious Education lessons, lunchtime and after school clubs. During term-time, our children’s workers have contact with over 12,000 pupils and during the school holidays organise weekends away in the Peak District.
Our Blend Youth Project operates from our Ripley and Heanor bases and works into the local area and aim to:-
· Promote positive decision making
· Offer crime diversionary activities
· Raise aspirations through participation and active citizenship
· Facilitate personal, social, educational and spiritual development
· Raise self-esteem and achievement through creative challenges
We currently run four ZEST Breakfast Clubs all Ofsted Registered
Riddings Infant and Nursery School
Swanwick Primary School:
Ripley St John’s C of E Primary School
Alfreton Christ the King Catholic Primary School (also has an After School Club)
The Salt Pot Café in Swanwick – A great place to meet and provides good quality food and drinks at a low cost.
Key staff are employed but the majority of the work is carried out through a growing number of volunteers, The charity provides opportunities for volunteers to become involved in children’s work, youth work, or in one of our charity shops, or coffee shop, training is provided.
