About Salvation Army
About This Shop
The Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd is one of the leading textile recycling and clothing collection organisations in the UK. The profit we receive through the donation of your unwanted clothes and household items contributes to The Salvation Army helping to fund its valuable work in Britain.
Over the last five years alone, your unwanted clothes and household items contributes to The Salvation Army helping to fund its valuable work in Britain. Over the last five years alone, your donations have allowed us to present over £35 million to The Salvation Army (between April 2010 and March 2015). The money raised for The Salvation Army each year goes towards its work with people who are vulnerable or in need. Throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, the charity runs projects including homelessness and addiction services, care for older people, help at emergency incidents and support for adult victims of human trafficking in England and Wales, as well as local community support and activity groups.
Set up and owned by The Salvation Army, we were established as its trading arm in the UK and Ireland in 1991, not only to provide crucial funding for the charity but also to create jobs and benefit the environment. We opened our first charity shop in 1993 and now operate a network of more than 200 shops, employing 370 people and over 2,500 volunteers. We have grown our network of clothing banks to 6,700 – you can drop your unwanted items at a variety of convenient locations including supermarkets, schools and local authority car parks. We also deliver over 400,000 door-to-door collection bags each week.
