About Hospice in The Weald
About This Shop
Hospice in the Weald provides specialist advice and support for people with a life-threatening illness, their families, and the bereaved. It is based in Pembury and serves a community of approximately 300,000 over an area of 400sq. miles of West Kent and East Sussex.
Established since 1980, the Hospice comprises an In-Patient Unit and a Day Therapy Centre offering a range of treatments, complementary therapies, and clinics. A community team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Doctors provides 24-hour advice and support to the local community and all nursing and medical services are backed up with family support, bereavement counseling, spiritual care, and a health information service.
All Hospice services and activities are supported by a skilled and dedicated team of volunteers and are provided completely free of charge to the local community. Hospice in the Weald is a charity, dependent on the community to fund its essential work – its Government funding is only half that afforded to the average adult hospice in the UK.
