About Heart of Kent Hospice
About This Shop
Situated in the heart of the county, the Heart of Kent Hospice is a local charity specialising in palliative care to the people of Maidstone, parts of Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding local communities.
We strive to offer expert care and support to people when curative treatment is no longer possible – the highest quality specialist palliative care, aimed at controlling symptoms and managing any emotional distress. At any one time, we support up to 300 patients, plus their families and carers. As a charity, the services we offer are free of charge. Services are designed to provide a safe environment within which people can explore the many issues that arise when living with a terminal illness. Whether supporting people at the Hospice or in their home, we seek to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each patient and provide support for family and friends. We work with each patient – along with their family and carers – to enable them to improve their quality of life, to live each day as fully as possible and to spend their last months in the way they have chosen. We employ approximately 75 full and part-time staff, supported by more than 500 volunteers.
