About Florence Nightingale Hospice
About This Shop
Florence Nightingale Hospice is situated on the site of Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury. It was built in 1989 as a result of a successful public appeal, which raised over 500,000 pounds.
The aim of the hospice is to provide a first-class specialist palliative care service that is accessible and free of charge to people with a life-limiting illness. Patients come from Aylesbury and surrounding towns including Buckingham, Winslow, Thame, Chinnor, Leighton Buzzard, Wendover, and all the villages and communities around them.
In addition to the 12 beds in the inpatient unit, we have a Day Hospice, a community nursing service, Lymphoedema Clinic, Children’s Hospice at Home Team, bereavement listening, therapists, and a volunteer service supporting staff Running costs exceed 2 million per year, and Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity has pledged to provide at least 450,000 pounds every year towards these costs.
Funds are raised through our retail outlets, eBay, Community, and Corporate events, donations, and legacies. Local supporters organise and help at many events and fundraising activities and contributions from local charities and clubs are much needed and really appreciated.
