About Cornwall Air Ambulance
About This Shop
Cornwall Air Ambulance flies on average 700 missions every year bringing vital emergency medical treatment in minutes to patients across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It does not receive any government support for these missions and relies on the generosity of its supporters.
Taking to the skies in 1987, Cornwall Air Ambulance was the first air ambulance in the UK. It has now completed more than 26,000 missions, saving countless lives.
Cornwall Air Ambulance is on the scene on average in just 12 minutes in mainland Cornwall and less than 30 minutes on the Isles of Scilly. The paramedic aircrew provides pre-hospital critical care at the scene of the incident and can go on to fly the patient to specialist hospital units in Cornwall, Devon, Bristol, and even as far as Swansea.
We rely on our supporters for the running costs of £3 million a year. Anyone could need this service at any time whether local or visitor, young or old.
For the half a million people who call Cornwall home, as well as the millions who visit the county, Cornwall Air Ambulance is a reassuring presence.
The Cornish people are extremely proud of their air ambulance and especially so as it was the first of its kind in the UK. With the word “Funded by the People of Cornwall” along the fuselage, it is the people of this county that have remained steadfastly supportive and passionate about their air ambulance whether through donations, legacies, the lottery, or our collection jars. Cornwall Air Ambulance plays an important and crucial role in saving time and saving lives.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust has opened shops all over Cornwall and you can call in at any one of them and pick up a bargain
