About Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland
About This Shop
Every day 500,000 people in Scotland are suffering from heart disease, stroke and chronic chest illness.
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland provides care, information, and support when it’s needed most, helping people to regain their independence. As one of Scotland’s leading medical charities, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland achieves this by funding medical research, influencing public policy, providing advice and information, and offering support in the community to people living with these conditions.
Last year CHSS supported more than 14,000 people across Scotland via its Volunteer Stroke Service, Chest and Heart Failure Befriending Services, Stroke Nurses and Therapists, nurse-led Advice Line ( 0845 077 6000) and network of the affiliated chest, heart and stroke groups. To maintain and expand its vital work in research and community services the charity relies almost entirely on the continuing generosity of the Scottish public, business and community organisations. Every pound raised in Scotland is spent on services and research in Scotland.
CHSS has a network of shops, currently 35 in total, which help raise the funds needed to fulfill its vital work. Helped by a team of enthusiastic and committed volunteers these shops sell only goods donated by the public. The only new goods sold are the charity’s own range of Christmas cards and diaries. Donations of good quality clothing, books, music, etc are always welcome. CHSS operates a Gift Aid scheme to boost income from donated goods at no cost to the public.
