About Bury Hospice
About This Shop
Bury Hospice is here to offer care and support not only to people approaching the end of life – though that is a very important part of our service – but also to their families and friends.
We offer outstanding care, from in-patient to daycare services, hospice at home, and outpatient support, and we aim to help Bury people achieve the best possible quality of life at a time when this matters more than ever.
We moved into our new 12 bedrooms state-of-the-art building in March 2013. Bury Hospice has been named Best Community Building in the LABC North West Building Excellence Awards. The Building Excellence Awards recognises its innovative and accessible design; high-quality and efficiency of the construction team and the excellent environmental performance of the completed building.
We only get 10% of our running costs from the NHS and rely on charitable donations and revenue from our charity shops to support the work that we do in the community of the Borough of Bury.
Last year we opened our furniture warehouse and this together with our charity shops make up the very successful retail arm of Bury Hospice. The shops sell a wide range of pre-owned goods including clothes, shoes and accessories, bric-a-brac, books, and CDs. We depend entirely on the generosity of the local people in donating items for sale.
At the recent RHS Tatton Flower Show, the Bury Hospice ‘Reflections of Japan’ garden won a prestigious gold medal and this garden will be replanted on the grounds of the new Bury Hospice, giving a tranquil area for patients and families to enjoy.
