About Birmingham St Marys Hospice
About This Shop
At Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, we provide care and support for people who are living with life-limiting illnesses and to the people that matter most to them.
We do this by taking care beyond the hospice itself, offering personalised support, in people’s homes or in their local community. Our aim is to help people live well with their illness, right up to the end of life, and to be there for their families, carers and loved ones.
Our inpatient unit at the Hospice offers intensive palliative and end of life care. Our expert team of doctors, nurses, and therapists care for people in the ward, helping them manage their symptoms and providing therapies as well as advice and support. Our day services allow individuals to focus on living well, through self-help sessions, complementary therapies, and psychological, social, and spiritual care.
We are on hand to support families and carers with any emotional and practical matters. That might be helping to write a will or providing bereavement counselling to adults or children. Even after someone has died, our dedicated team is there to help people who are grieving carry on with their lives. We are champions of palliative and end of life care and have a commitment to research, innovation, and teaching, striving to transform care for future generations.
Every day, we care for 400 people living with life-limiting illnesses across Birmingham and Sandwell. All of our services are free of charge to everyone who uses them, including individuals, their families, loved ones, and carers.
It costs £8 million each year to run the Hospice – that’s £21,918 a day, £914 per hour, and £16 every minute. So we rely on people’s generous support to help fund our vital work. There are many ways you can get involved and support us – from signing up for an event, volunteering, making a donation, or shopping at one of our 16 stores.
